Hospital Update!

Well...holy cow is this little girl ready to make her appearance!!! First of all, thank you so much for all of thoughts and prayers - they must've worked because I am home. In case anyone missed details here is the rundown on what happened this week. Tuesday we went to the doc for a check-up...it turned into a 3-day stay in the hospital. Come to find out I was dilated 1 cm and my contractions were pretty frequent. Also, Dr. Bell decided to give me steroids to strengthen the baby's lungs...just in case. The steroids were going to make my blood sugar sky-rocket and that needed to be monitored in the hospital too because of my gestational diabetes. So, they wheeled me down the hall to the labor and delivery wing and got me all set up. Everything was good until about 10:30 that night. I started having contractions every 5 - 8 minutes so the nurse came in a gave me a "devil" shot that made me feel like my heart was about to pound out of my chest. Well, little did I know that the "devil" shot was a piece of cake compared to the magnesium that started pumping through my IV line about 4am when my contractions started coming every 3 - 5 minutes. The magnesium made me feel like I had the flu but like ten times worse. David kept me packed down in ice packs and cold towels which was a much needed help. After 12 long hours, they took me off the magnesium and started me back on Procardia, which is what I have been taking for the past couple of weeks. But now, I am on an extended release formula so it never really has the chance to leave my system. Hopefully this works. Yesterday I was still only dilated at 1 cm and my contractions were only coming a few per hour. I go back to the doctor on Monday to check everything out - fingers crossed that I get to come back home on Monday. I have had some great nurses so far - David, Sissy and Barb - and I look forward to my future nurses! I have some pics to post but the camera cord is MIA right now so I will have to get David on that. I will keep everyone updated!

YAY for being home! Plum is proving to be ornery, and could take the drama princess title from Mabelle! LOL!

Hoping for just a couple of months of bedrest and no early debut of Miss Plum!
